Glowing Skin Energy Bars

I named these energy bars “Glowing Skin Energy Bars” because they’re full of superfoods that promote both a smooth, youthful complexion and boundless, sustainable energy! I originally came up with this recipe because I needed a quick, easily digestible source of energy before my early morning hot yoga classes (while most people are better off not eating anything prior to morning yoga, I don’t do well on a completely empty stomach and get light headed if I don’t eat something prior).

The only problem with these bars? It’s so hard to eat just one!!

Let’s get down to business, shall we?

Here’s the recipe:

1 1/2 cups cashews
1/2 cup almonds
1 tbs coconut oil
1 tbs cinnamon
2 cups dates, pitted
1/3 cup coconut flakes
1/4 cup cacao powder
1/4 cup cacao nibs

Optional (and highly recommended, but not necessary):
-3 tbs hemp seeds
-2 droppers of Moso Bamboo Extract

I used my Vitamix to make these bars, but you could also use a food processor, a Blend Tec, or another high speed blender that can handle dates and nuts.

Directions:

1) Place the cashews, coconut oil, and almonds into your Vitamix/food processor and process till they’re well ground, forming a nut butter.

2) Add the dates, cacao powder, and cinnamon, and process until the mixture starts to clump together.

3) Add cacao nibs, hemp seeds, Moso Bamboo Extract, and coconut flakes to food processor and combine until smooth.

4) Line an 8 X 12 (or whatever you have ) baking dish with tin foil. Next, empty the “dough” from your Vitamix/processor on to the foil and press it down firmly (I recommend using your fingers to do this!). Refrigerate for about thirty minutes or more. If you want your bars to have a harder, crunchier consistency, pop them in the freezer for 15 minutes and then put them in the fridge for 20 minutes before slicing them into “bar shapes” and eating.

Optional: top with coconut flakes! I did this because I love coconut flakes!

Recipe makes 10-12 bars, depending on how large you slice them!

I hope that you enjoy this recipe! Let me know if you make these bars and how they turn out! These bars are now my go to “pre-workout” snack for not only hot yoga, but also running, and I love that they fuel my muscles with pure, unprocessed nutrition.

Fall Detox Smoothie

Hello lovely people! Recipe time! This is one of my favorite smoothies to drink in the fall. It gently detoxifies the body and promotes feelings of calm, sustained energy (vs. crazy, crash and burn energy). It’s also a great beauty boosting smoothie as the ingredients really help hydrate the skin, giving you a glowing, radiant complexion. Does any of that sound appealing to you? If not, let’s just end this conversation now and you can be on your way:)

Here is the recipe:

Glowing Skin Delight Smoothie

Hello Beautiful People!

Green Smoothies make me happy. Seriously, they do! Oh, I’m Lizzie by the way. I’ll get around to introducing myself later, after I give you some more great smoothie recipes.

Ever since I discovered green smoothies, my life hasn’t really been the same. I don’t say that to be dramatic, I say that because it’s true. My eyes are brighter, my skin is clear and glowing, my energy is off the charts, and my cravings for junk foods are pretty much non-existent.

So, yeah, my life really hasn’t been the same since discovering green smoothies, which is why I love to share them with others.

This is my favorite smoothie for beautiful, glowing skin. It contains Moso Bamboo Extract which is chock full of silica. In fact, Bamboo extract is the richest known source of silica: it contains over 70% organic silica and is 10 times more potent than horsetail silica. Silica, known as the “beauty mineral”, prevents wrinkling of the skin by supporting collagen production and promotes growth of thick, strong hair, nails, and teeth. As an added benefit, Bamboo extract has also been shown to boost energy, strengthen the immune system, and promote joint health!

This smoothie is also great for your thyroid! It contains brazil nuts, which are high in selenium, a vital nutrient for thyroid health!

I made this smoothie in my Vitamix but you could also make it in a Nutribullet or a high-speed blender like the Ninja.
